Multiple Locations, Mali
This horizontal and transitional construction works project spanned three camp locations in Mali: Ber, Lere, and Goundam. The camps ranged in size from a 200-person camp in Ber to a 400-person camp in Goundam and a 600-person camp in Lere. Each is located in a remote environment with security concerns.
CADG performed all engineering and construction details of the inner road systems and utilities associated with this project. Before construction began, CADG’s engineers, surveyors, and project managers conducted topographical surveys, soil evaluation, earthworks, and ground preparation. Construction included the installation of stabilized laterite works to support base transportation. The project team also installed a helipad, recreational grounds, perimeter fencing, security gates, observation posts, and a shelter and ammunition store.
Given the remote location of the bases, the project also required the installation of critical infrastructure. This included electrical supply and distribution, water supply and sanitation, stormwater drainage, and information and communication distribution works.
Careful coordination with the client contact was integral to the project’s success. CADG’s staff worked closely with them and the local community. Much of the onsite labor was locally sourced. In conjunction with the firm’s in-house design team, engineers, surveyors, and project managers, CADG’s logistics, procurement, and aviation divisions were essential in delivering the project on time and within budget.
